Rally electric.

Plug In Adventures are setting out on the Mongol Rally in a pretty much bog standard Nissan Leaf.    10,000 miles in a car that needs plugged in regularly crossing countries with a, variable, set of arrangements for electricity is going to be a new challenge.

The rally is usually open to small ICE cars, 1000cc or less.   That’s most of Rule 1.  The Leaf does offer a different set of challenges, but will probably be more reliable.  Rule 2 is no support, entrants are on their own, Rule 3 is raise money for charity.  That’s it.

Please help with rule 3 at their Crowdfunder page.

They aren’t the only people trekking across the work in an EV, check out the Plug Me In Project travelling from the Netherlands to Australia in a converted VW Golf estate.   It is a different adventure but with several parallels. Straight lines don’t feature on the route though.

Both are doing an amazing job in pushing the boundaries of what is recognised as credible for an EV.   Just a little bit of planning……..
