Electric Grid

Today I had a group of visitors to a site in the city centre, colleagues from the West and South.  The Leaf was a point of conversation, although mainly regarding charging and the potential impact and benefit to the grid as discussed here.    It was interesting to see their various impressions on the level of EV uptake and opinions on ownership.  Although they have seen charge points here and there, including some of the Type 1 tethered sets we have at work, appreciation of the infrastructure was poor.

The grid balancing and support was an interesting topic, although the opinion on smart metering as it stands at the moment was relatively negative.   Consumer engagement on the issue was also a topic, with the need to start early with customer stakeholders a point of consensus.

On a more general note, the Leaf was accompanied at various points today by  two Leaf’s, two Zoe’s, a Model S, a Roadster and an MIEV.  It may be just that I am looking more, but there seem to be more EVs on the roads.

Even the vet now has a Zoe. #inglisvets
