EV Count at the Highland Show

Well Saturday in the car park I spied just the one BMW i3.  From the forums I know a Nissan e-NV200 was visiting from Aberdeenshire.

The Nissan had a challenging journey down, at least in the respect that  the charger at  Forfar was acting up. She made it to the next rapid at 203020 Taxis in Dundee with just a low battery warning.  About a 64  mile journey.  First time the driver had been out of range of her home charger.  Most forums report a real world range of around 70 miles. After that she didn’t pass a rapid by, something I’ve mentioned before, as you never know if the next will be in working condition or not.  So the worry is not range itself, but the availability and functionality of support infrastructure.

And there lies a potential worry after the referendum.     Will there remain a political will to continue with a co-ordinated development of infrastructure.   Not that there is a strong political drive coming from the EU any more.   But there is a drive.
